The EbikeMate register
Register your e-bike. Free.
Record your frame serial number in two minutes. If your bike is ever stolen, one tap flags it — and anyone who tries to sell it on EbikeMate is stopped and checked.
- Free for riders — no fees, no catch.
- Private — a check shows only “registered” or “reported stolen”, never your name or address.
- Stolen? One tap — any listing with that serial is taken down for checking.
- Selling later? Your ad shows “registered to this seller”, which buyers trust.
Buying a used e-bike? Check the serial first
Ask the seller for the frame serial number (usually stamped under the bottom bracket) and check it here before you pay.
How it works
- Find the serialTurn the bike over: it is stamped under the bottom bracket, where the cranks meet the frame. Some are on the head tube or rear dropout.
- Register itAdd the serial, make, model and colour. A photo of the serial helps prove it is yours.
- If it is stolenReport it to the police, then mark it stolen here with the date, suburb and police reference. Any listing with that serial is taken down for checking.
- If you get it backMark it recovered and it is clear again.
Questions
Who can see my details?
Only you and our team. A serial check shows whether a bike is registered or reported stolen — never the owner’s name, email or address.
What if someone else has registered my serial?
Register it anyway. A serial that is already registered goes to our team to check, and we may ask both people for proof such as a receipt or a photo of the serial. Nobody can take over a registration by typing in a serial.
I sold my bike. What now?
Remove it from My bikes so the new owner can register it. If you sold it on EbikeMate, the buyer can register it straight away.
Does registering replace reporting to the police?
No. Always report a theft to the police first — call 131 444 (the Police Assistance Line) or use your state police’s online form, and 000 in an emergency. Add the police reference when you mark the bike stolen.
Is a bike that is not on the register safe to buy?
Not necessarily — it may simply not have been registered. Ask for the receipt, check the serial matches the frame, and meet somewhere public.
