The council page bans motorbikes and vehicles (penalties apply) but does not mention e-bikes. Queensland rules: compliant pedal-assist e-bikes only (max 250 W, assistance to 25 km/h). Rail trails are exempt from the age and licence rules that started on 31 August 2026.

Highlights

• Shared off-road trail joining Atherton and Mareeba along the old railway line
• Starts at the Hasties Swamp bird hide

• The council advises carrying plenty of water and light snacks
• Dogs must be on a lead. Dismount at road crossings and close all gates
