Help & FAQ
Quick answers about buying, selling, the e-bike register and shop accounts.
Buying
How do I contact a seller?
Open the listing and press Contact seller. You’ll need a free account. Messages stay on EbikeMate, so neither of you has to share a phone number until you want to.
How do I pay?
You pay the seller directly when you pick the bike up. EbikeMate does not take payment for items. Never pay a deposit by bank transfer, gift card or crypto to someone you have not met.
What does the grade mean?
Every listing is graded against a published checklist: how it looks and how it works, with kilometres and battery health for e-bikes. Shop Certified grades come from ABN-checked shops. See How grading works.
Why can’t I see some listings?
Batteries over 100 Wh are pickup only, so they show only to buyers in the seller’s region. Set your postcode in the bar at the top to see what’s available near you.
How do I know it isn’t stolen?
Every e-bike ad records the frame serial. Check it on the register and make sure it matches the frame. An ad whose serial is reported stolen is taken down for checking.
Selling
Does it cost anything to sell?
No. Listing is free while we launch — no fees and no commission.
How long does it take?
About ten minutes for an e-bike: pick the model, add the details and at least four photos, answer the condition questions, and publish. Your draft saves as you go.
Why do you need the serial number?
Buyers trust ads where the serial is recorded, and it helps stop stolen bikes being sold. Only the last four characters are shown on your ad.
Why was my ad sent for checking?
A person checks an ad first if its photos have no camera data, its model is new to our catalogue, or its serial matches another listing or a stolen report. Most checks are done within a business day.
Can I post a battery?
No. Lithium batteries over 100 Wh — every e-bike battery — cannot be posted in Australia. List them for pickup. See Battery rules.
The e-bike register
Is the register free?
Yes, registering your e-bike and checking a serial are free.
Who can see my details?
Only you and our team. A serial check shows only whether a bike is registered or reported stolen.
My bike was stolen. What do I do?
Report it to the police first (131 444, or 000 in an emergency). Then open My bikes and press Report stolen, adding the police reference.
For shops and wholesalers
How do I open a shop account?
Sign in, open Account → Business and add your ABN and trading address. A person checks it, usually within one business day.
What do verified shops get?
A showroom page with your logo, cover photo and shop photos; bulk upload from a spreadsheet; your own product photos for new stock; Shop Certified and B-Stock grades; a trade-only lane; and a dashboard with views, saves and leads.
Can I upload my stock in bulk?
Yes. Download the CSV template from Account → Bulk upload, fill it in, and each row becomes a draft. Add photos and publish.
