EbikeMate

Secure Pay

The safe way to pay a stranger for a used e-bike: no cash to carry, no bank transfer before you’ve seen the bike.

Coming soon Secure Pay is launching soon. Until then, pay at handover, and never send a deposit by bank transfer, gift card or crypto.
  1. 1You pay through EbikeMateBy card, through Stripe. The listing is reserved for you. We hold the money — the seller doesn’t get it yet.
  2. 2You get a handover codeSix digits, shown in your order and emailed to you. Keep it to yourself.
  3. 3Check the bike, then give the codeMeet the seller, check the serial and ride it. Happy? Give them the code. They enter it and we pay them.
  4. 4Not happy? Don’t give the codeIf the bike isn’t as described, keep the code and ask for a refund. Posted items: release the payment when it arrives.

What it costs

Buyers pay a buyer protection fee of 3.5% of the price (minimum $4.95, maximum $69), incl. GST, shown before you pay. Sellers pay nothing and receive the full price.

If the seller cancels, or you don’t collect within 14 days and the code was never used, you get the full amount back, including the fee.

For sellers

Set up payouts once (Stripe asks for your name, date of birth and bank account — EbikeMate never sees your bank details). Only hand the bike over when the buyer gives you the code; enter it in the order and the money is on its way to your bank.

Secure Pay payments are processed by Stripe. See the terms.

Where are you?

Your postcode decides what you can see. Batteries are pickup only, so they only show to buyers near the seller, and some items are not shown in every state.
