How to transfer e-bike ownership when you sell

Updated 9 October 2026 · 3 min read

When you sell a registered e-bike, you can hand its Bike Passport to the buyer. They get a clean record that the bike is theirs — and you are no longer listed as the owner.

How it works

  1. Start the transfer. In My bikes, open the bike and choose Transfer ownership. Enter the buyer’s email — or pick them from your EbikeMate messages.
  2. The buyer accepts. They get an email with a private link that only works for that email address, and lasts 14 days.
  3. Ownership moves. The Bike Passport moves to the buyer’s account, and both of you can download an ownership transfer certificate.

What the buyer gets — and what they don’t

  • The buyer keeps the bike’s identity, its EMID, photos, component serials and history.
  • Your private notes, receipts and documents are removed before the transfer. Your name and contact details are never passed on.

Tips

  • Start the transfer once you have been paid in full.
  • If you sold through EbikeMate, marking the listing as sold prompts you to transfer the bike.
  • Changed your mind before the buyer accepts? Cancel the transfer from the bike’s page.

Where are you?

Your postcode decides what you can see. Batteries are pickup only, so they only show to buyers near the seller, and some items are not shown in every state.
