Key date: 1 March 2027. From then, an e-bike needs a compliance label to be ridden sa public in Queensland. 28 February 2027 is the last day an unlabelled (but otherwise legal) e-bike can be ridden.

Which label?

  • EN 15194 label — e-bikes made from 1 July 2026 must meet the European standard EN 15194 and carry a permanent compliance label. Many good brands already have one.
  • Legacy EPAC label — for eligible e-bikes made before 1 July 2026 that meet the 250 W and 25 km/h limits but have no EN 15194 label. You get it through the Assurance Scheme.
  • Special Purpose EPAC label — for adaptive or disability e-bikes and e-trikes, also through the scheme.

The E-Bike Assurance Scheme

  • Expected to open on 2 Nobyembre 2026 (the Queensland Government says “expected”).
  • Inspections are done by authorised verifiers — approved bicycle retailers trained to assess e-bikes against the scheme.
  • The fee is up to $70 for the inspection and label.
  • If your bike passes, it gets a permanent label. Find shops offering checks on Mga compliance check ng e-bike.
  • The scheme is not for high-powered, high-speed or modified devices — for example a 500 W e-bike.
  • An e-bike over 250 W that didn’t comply before 1 July 2026 can’t be made compliant.
  • Conversion kits fitted after 1 July 2026 make a bike non-compliant (private property use only).
  • Bikes that have been software-“unlocked” are treated as illegal.

What to do now

  1. Look for an EN 15194 sticker on the frame (often near the bottom bracket or rear dropout).
  2. No sticker? Take the free 1-minutong legal check to see if your bike is likely eligible.
  3. Record your frame serial and photos sa a free Bike Passport — useful for the inspection, and if the bike is ever stolen.

Mga karaniwang tanong

Kailan kailangan ng compliance label ang mga e-bike sa Queensland?

From 1 March 2027. The last day to ride an unlabelled but otherwise legal e-bike is 28 February 2027.

What is the E-Bike Assurance Scheme?

A Queensland scheme, expected to open on 2 November 2026, where approved bicycle retailers inspect older e-bikes (made before 1 July 2026) and fit a Legacy EPAC label if they pass. It costs up to $70.

Can a 500 W e-bike get a Queensland compliance label?

No. The scheme is not for high-powered or modified devices, and an e-bike over 250 W that didn’t comply before 1 July 2026 can’t be made compliant.

Wala ang brand sa listahan? Pumili ayon sa motor system — nakabatay ang mga piyesa sa motor, hindi sa tatak sa frame.
