Everything an e-bike rider(Darwin needs in one place — checked against official Northern Territory and local sources in October 2026. Rules change, so the sources are linked at the bottom.)
The rules(Darwin)
- Legal e-bikes: EPACs (EN 15194) up to 250 W and 25 km/h, or 200 W for other power-assisted bikes. NT e-bike laws
- Helmets: riders 17 and under must always wear one. Over 17, a helmet isn’t required on footpaths and paths — only on the road.
- On paths keep left and give way to pedestrians.

Taking your e-bike on public transport
- Buses: conventional bikes aren’t allowed; a bike must fit(the luggage rack.)
Main bikeways and paths

Theft: keeping your e-bike
