A standard e-bike service(Australia usually costs) about $150 to $250, with bigger services from around $300 and parts extra. E-bikes need the same care as a normal bike — brakes, gears, chain, tyres — plus checks of the motor, battery, wiring and software. They’re heavier and faster, so brakes and tyres wear quicker.
Typical prices (October 2026)
Prices vary by shop and city, so treat these as a guide only. Parts are usually extra.

Why e-bikes can cost more:
- Weight and wear. Brake pads, chains, cassettes and tyres wear faster on a heavier, faster bike.
- Mid-drive motors. Some jobs mean removing and refitting the drive unit, which some shops charge extra for.
- Hub-motor wheels. A flat tyre on the motor wheel takes longer to fix than on a normal wheel.
- Diagnostics. Brand-name systems (Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha, Giant and others) need dealer software to read error codes and update firmware.
How often should you service an e-bike?
Most shops suggest a full service about once a year, plus a quick tune-up every few months if you ride every day, commute(the rain or do deliveries. Book in sooner if you notice:)
- Brakes squealing, feeling soft or pulling to the bar
- Gears skipping or a noisy chain
- An error code on the display, or the motor cutting(and out)
- Range dropping suddenly — see battery health explained
- A loose or rattling battery
Check your bike’s manual too — some makers set their own intervals for the motor and drive system.

Brake pads, tyres and the chain are the parts that wear fastest — see what they cost to replace.
What you can do yourself (free)
- Keep tyres pumped to the pressure on the sidewall — it’s the cheapest way to get more range.
- Wipe and lube the chain every few weeks.
- Keep the battery contacts clean and dry. Don’t pressure-wash the motor, battery or display.
- Charge and store the battery the right way — see battery fire safety.
Leave hydraulic brakes, motor and wiring problems, and anything involving the battery pack, to a shop. If the battery itself is worn out, see what a replacement battery costs.
預約之前
- Call ahead if you bought the bike elsewhere or online. Some shops only service certain motor brands, or need the right software for your system.
- Some shops won’t service an e-bike that doesn’t meet local rules — for example, one that has been “unlocked” or derestricted. See 各州電動單車法例.
- Ask for a quote first, and whether parts like brake pads, a chain or tyres are likely to be needed.
- Take the charger and keys if the shop needs to test the battery.
Keep a service history — it pays off when you sell
A used e-bike with a record of regular servicing is easier to sell and easier for a buyer to trust. Keep each service report and receipt, and note the date, the shop and what was done.
Your free Bike Passport keeps the bike’s serial, photos, receipts and service history(one place, so it’s all there when you sell — or if the bike is ever stolen. People who check your bike can see that it has a service history, without seeing the details. See) sell your e-bike fast.
購買二手? Ask for the service history. No records at all on a two-year-old e-bike is worth pricing in: budget for a full service, and possibly brake pads, a chain and tyres, soon after you buy. Run our used e-bike checklist too.

常見問題
How much is an e-bike service(Australia?)
A standard e-bike service usually costs about $150 to $250 at a bike shop, plus any parts. A quick tune-up is cheaper; a major strip-down service can be $300 to $500 or more.
How often should I service my e-bike?
關於 once a year for a full service, with tune-ups in between if you ride daily or in all weather. Get it checked sooner if the brakes, gears or motor don’t feel right.

Often a little. E-bikes wear brakes, chains and tyres faster, and checking the motor, battery and software takes extra time and dealer tools.
