Hiring a Lime or Neuron scooter
- Download the operator’s app, register and find a scooter.
- Check the brakes and equipment before you ride, and wear the helmet provided.
- Park in a designated e-mobility hub where there is one nearby, following the app’s instructions; otherwise park where it won’t block footpaths, roads or emergency equipment.
- End the session in the app.
Shared-scooter riders must be 16 anni o più. Hire companies have until March 2027 to take reasonable steps to check riders’ age and licence (ABC News, 30 August 2026).

Parking and theft
- Brisbane City Council provides scooter parking racks: put the scooter’s neck into the top of the rack and lock it. Hire scooters go in hubs, not private racks.
- Lock it to something solid every time, take the key or app access with you, and bring it inside overnight.
- Write down the serial number now. If it’s stolen — or seized — the serial, a receipt and photos of you with it are how you prove it’s yours. A free Passaporto monopattino keeps them together.
- Buying second-hand on Marketplace or Gumtree? Check the serial isn’t reported stolen before you pay.
Taking it on the train, bus or ferry
Rules for taking e-scooters on public transport differ from bikes and change often — read e-scooters on public transport before you travel.
