Trains

  • Bikes travel free on trains at any time. In peak times, board the first or last carriage of six-car trains only, with no more than two bikes per carriage.
  • Keep clear of priority seats, aisles and doors, and stay with your bike. You may be asked to wait for the next service if there’s no room.
  • Queensland Rail doesn’t allow bikes on three-car trains, and doesn’t allow commercial (hire) e-bikes and e-scooters on board.
  • Translink’s page talks about bikes and e-scooters; it doesn’t set separate battery rules for e-bikes.

Buses, trams and folding bikes

Bikes and personal mobility devices aren’t allowed on buses or trams. A folding bike in a bag no bigger than 90 × 70 × 36 cm can go on any service.

Parking at stations

Queensland Rail has bike lockers and enclosures at more than 120 stations across South East Queensland. They are free with a $50 deposit, booked in 90-day blocks, and you must be 18 or over. In the CBD, Cycle2City at King George Square has 420 racks, lockers and showers for members.

Whichever you use, lock the frame (not just a wheel) and keep a record of your serial. Protect your e-bike · Register it free.
