Quick answers

Is the Dc trike 1000 watt legal in Australia?

Not as a road-legal e-bike: its listed rated power is 1000 W (the limit is 250 W). On public roads and paths it would be treated as an illegal device or an electric motorcycle needing registration, and in Queensland police can seize illegal e-bikes. It can be ridden on private property.

What is the real-world range of the Dc trike 1000 watt?

EbikeMate estimates about 56–84 km per charge from its 1000 Wh battery, for an 80 kg rider on rolling terrain in a middle assist level at about 20 km/h. The maker claims up to 25 km, usually measured in the lowest assist level. Hills, headwinds, cold weather and higher assist cut range.

How big is the Dc trike 1000 watt battery?

1000 Wh at 52 V. Use only the original or a maker-approved battery and charger.

What motor does the Dc trike 1000 watt have?

A Brushless and gearless 52 volt front hub motor with 100 Nm of torque, rated at 1000 W.

How much does the Dc trike 1000 watt cost in Australia?

Its recommended retail price is listed at $3,900.

How heavy is the Dc trike 1000 watt?

About 30 kg, as listed by the maker (usually including the battery).

Has the Dc trike 1000 watt been recalled?

No recall for the Dc trike 1000 watt is listed in the EbikeMate Recall Centre, which tracks Product Safety Australia and maker notices. Registered owners are emailed if one is published.

Australian rules

Government informationEbikeMate editorial guidance

Across Australia a pedal-assisted e-bike (EN 15194) may have up to 250 W continuous rated power, with assistance cutting out by 25 km/h. Throttle rules differ by state. What the maker states for this model:

  • Rated power: 1000 W — above 250 W, so it is not a pedal-assisted e-bike under the national standard. On public roads and paths it may need registration as a motor vehicle, or not be allowed at all
  • Assistance to: 25 km/h — within the 25 km/h limit
  • Throttle: yes — check your state’s throttle rules

Real-world range

56–84 km

Our estimate for an 80 kg rider on rolling terrain in medium assist at about 20 km/h, with a healthy battery. Hills, wind, cold, high assist and speed cut it a lot.

Battery and charger

  • Do not use or charge a battery that is damaged, swollen, leaking, unusually hot, hissing or giving off an unusual smell. Suspected water ingress needs professional advice. Follow the exact battery instructions and any applicable recall.
  • If there is fire or smoke, get to a safe area and call 000. Do not touch the device or breathe the fumes.
  • Ask the manufacturer, council or a suitable specialist how to arrange safe assessment or disposal; do not assume a general battery drop-off accepts a damaged pack. Never put batteries in household or recycling bins.
  • Use the maker’s own replacement battery, or one the maker or a specialist confirms is approved for this motor system. Voltage, connector and battery-management system all have to match.
  • Use the original charger, or a replacement the maker approves for the exact battery and revision. Voltage and connector shape alone do not establish compatibility; do not infer the charger’s required output from the bike’s nominal voltage.
  • Check the battery’s own label (Wh, V and serial) matches what the seller says.

Servicing

  • A first check after the first few hundred kilometres — new cables stretch and bolts settle.
  • Chain: clean and lube regularly and measure wear — e-bikes wear chains and cassettes faster than regular bikes.
  • Hydraulic disc brakes: check pad thickness often; a bleed when the lever feels soft.
  • Hub motor: check the axle nuts or thru-axle and torque arms, and that the motor cable isn’t pinched or rubbing.
  • Battery care: follow the exact maker’s charging and storage instructions. Keep it out of hot cars; never use or charge a damaged pack.

Buying a used one

  • Run the serial through the free EbikeMate buyer check — theft status, recalls and ownership on record.
  • Find the frame serial yourself (usually under the bottom bracket) and check it matches the seller’s papers.
  • Ask how old the battery is and check it holds charge on a test ride up a hill.
  • Look for signs of derestriction: tuning dongles, unusual wiring, or a top assisted speed above 25 km/h on the display.
  • Ask for the receipt, the original charger and the key for the battery lock.
