Everything an e-bike rider a Brisbane needs in one place — checked against official Queensland and local sources in October 2026. Rules change, so the sources are linked at the bottom.
The rules a Brisbane

Taking your e-bike on public transport
- Trains: any time, first or last carriage of six-car trains, max two bikes per carriage. No hire e-bikes. Dettagli
- Buses and trams: no bikes, unless folded into a bag no bigger than 90 × 70 × 36 cm.
- CityCats and ferries: yes, if there’s room, at staff discretion — walk it on.
Main bikeways and paths
- Bicentennial Bikeway — 4.8 km along the river, Toowong to the CBD.
- V1 Veloway — a 3 m dedicated bikeway beside the M1, South Brisbane to Slacks Creek.
- Kedron Brook Bikeway — almost 20 km, Mitchelton to Nundah.
- North Brisbane Bikeway — 7.5 km from the CBD to Wooloowin.
- Bulimba Creek Bikeway — about 20 km, Murarrie to Eight Mile Plains, council’s longest.
- Also: Norman Creek, Enoggera Creek, New Farm Riverwalk, and the Kangaroo Point, Goodwill e Go Between bridges. Heads-up: the Story Bridge closes to traffic from 27 December 2026 for works; the eastern footpath stays open.
Secure bike parking
- Cycle2City presso King George Square (members): 420 racks, lockers and 35 showers.
- Council has more than 400 bike racks across the city, usable for e-bikes; bike shelters need an access card with a $41.30 refundable deposit.
- Queensland Rail bike lockers and enclosures at more than 120 SEQ stations — free with a $50 deposit, 18+.
E-bike Share
Brisbane City Council runs a shared e-mobility scheme; council’s page lists Lime and Neuron as the providers. Riders must be 16+.
Theft: keeping your e-bike
Record the frame serial and a few photos a a free Passaporto bici before you need them — police and buyers ask for the serial first. Lock the frame, not just a wheel, and take the battery inside if you can. How to protect your e-bike.
