Everything an e-bike rider（Brisbane needs in one place — checked against official Queensland and local sources in October 2026. Rules change, so the sources are linked at the bottom.）
The rules（Brisbane）
- Legal e-bikes: 250 W maximum, motor help stops at 25 km/h, throttle only to 6 km/h, and an EN 15194 合规标签 (or Legacy EPAC label) required from 1 March 2027. Label rules
- Since 31 August 2026 riders must be 16+ with at least a learner licence, except supervised 12–17 year olds and on rail trails and MTB trails. Licence rules

- Inside South Bank Parklands bikes must keep to 10 km/h. Brisbane City Council allows up to 25 km/h on separated paths and bikeways.

Taking your e-bike on public transport
- Trains: any time, first or last carriage of six-car trains, max two bikes per carriage. No hire e-bikes. 详情
- Buses and trams: no bikes, unless folded into a bag no bigger than 90 × 70 × 36 cm.
- CityCats and ferries: yes, if there’s room, at staff discretion — walk it on.
Main bikeways and paths
- Bicentennial Bikeway ——4.8 km along the river，Toowong to the CBD.
- V1 Veloway ——a 3 m dedicated bikeway beside the M1，South Brisbane to Slacks Creek.
- Kedron Brook Bikeway ——almost 20 km，Mitchelton to Nundah.
- North Brisbane Bikeway — 7.5 km from the CBD to Wooloowin.
- Bulimba Creek Bikeway ——about 20 km，Murarrie to Eight Mile Plains, council’s longest.
- Also: Norman Creek, Enoggera Creek, New Farm Riverwalk, and the Kangaroo Point, Goodwill 和 Go Between bridges. Heads-up: the Story Bridge closes to traffic from 27 December 2026 for works; the eastern footpath stays open.
Secure bike parking
- Cycle2City 于 King George Square (members): 420 racks, lockers and 35 showers.
- Council has more than 400 bike racks across the city, usable for e-bikes; bike shelters need an access card with a $41.30 refundable deposit.
- Queensland Rail bike lockers and enclosures at more than 120 SEQ stations — free with a $50 deposit, 18+.

Brisbane City Council runs a shared e-mobility scheme; council’s page lists Lime and Neuron as the providers. Riders must be 16+.
Theft: keeping your e-bike
Record the frame serial and a few photos（a free） 车辆护照 before you need them — police and buyers ask for the serial first. Lock the frame, not just a wheel, and take the battery inside if you can. How to protect your e-bike.

Do you need a licence to ride an e-bike（Brisbane?）
Yes. Since 31 August 2026 Queensland riders must be 16 or older and hold at least a learner licence, with exemptions for supervised 12–17 year olds, rail trails and MTB trails, and some medical conditions.
Can you take an e-bike on the train（Brisbane?）
Yes, at any time on Translink trains — first or last carriage of six-car trains, maximum two bikes per carriage. Not on buses or trams.
What is the best bikeway（Brisbane?）
For commuting, the Bicentennial Bikeway (river, Toowong to the CBD), the V1 Veloway (south) and the North Brisbane Bikeway are the main routes. For a long flat ride, try the Kedron Brook or Bulimba Creek bikeways (about 20 km each).
